thanks to the good brokers

Thank you to the good brokers who actually know your customers, know when and where I have to be to pick up an deliver your shipment, what tarps/securement devices etc... I need to haul your loads, the correct dimensions and weight, and who I can converse with on a friendly level with mutual respect. I understand that every load is a unique situation and that you may not always be able to offer me the rate I need to haul it. and you understand that depending on how much deadheading I have to do or how close it gets me to my usual customers I can some times give you a better price than others. It's a pleasure working with you and I make a point to get to places to haul your loads.


Now, for the rest of you calling center jerk, wanna be, lazy , moronic, fast-talking, parasitical worms that post loads.... You're not a broker ! posting someone elses load for $50 cheaper is not brokering.

This is for the one who told me I was picking up at Nor-cote in Crawfordsville, IN when it was actually Nucor. There is a Nor-Cote, but you don't want to pull in their lot with a truck or you will be backing out onto a busy street ! this broker also could not produce my pickup number but somehow gave me the coil numbers ? I dunno how he even got the load.

This is for the one who told me I was picking up something 10 ft long and real light, probably a small tractor. Turned out to be a ventilation system taking up nearly the whole trailer and requiring full tarps ! yep, close buddy.

This if for the one who called me today wanting me to haul some concrete pads 70 miles, but I had to drive halfway across the state to get there. I'd tell you his name but he was talking fast and mumbling so bad I couldn't understand the name even after asking twice. Then he had the nerve to demand why I couldn't haul it. Hey ! you called me pal, I didn't even have a truck posted ! And I'm supposed to trust him that it only weighs 40,000 ? yah right.

This is for the guy who returns my call all chummy like he's my best pal and then presents his price for a three stop oversize load like it's big money when it's only $1.40/ mile. I don't do drugs anymore, but if I did I'd get me some of whatever he's having !

I've had a string of bad luck with them lately, that's for sure. I suspect that they check my authority and see that I've only been in business 4 months and think they got a real Rube on their hands. Or maybe that's how they deal with everybody, who knows ? I guess it never occured to them that sometimes people work in the trucking industry for 15 years and then buy a truck ? Or maybe it's my thick midwestern accent makes them think I just fell off the turnip wagon ? lol.

I'm tempted to just say, "You're not a broker, you're a parasite" and hang up, but I usually just brush them off politely and put a little note in my book to either never take loads from their company or at least avoid them.

 

your butt and shoulders will be tired from brokering soon enough. lol, it's one or the other I guess. good luck. I think the brokers who can see it from the truckers perspective and the truckers who try to see it from the broker's perspective will do well in the end.

The doucebag truckers and the doucebag brokers will just wind up playing a game of who got one over one who and it's really ineffective and ineffecient. When we can have mutual trust and respect for what each other do I think we can accomplish good things.
