The “Death of the Stickshift” is almost here for Americans

If I had to sit in traffic twice a day every day commuting I wouldn't want a stick either, just being real.

 

Your not wrong. But at the same time, sad to see the death of an era and i will always trust a stick over a computer.

I have no issue with a stick in traffic. Most of the time prefer it.

Emissions, planned obsolescence, more female new car purchasers, is what is killing the manual in the US.

The rest of the world still is in the market for manuals. Manuals are still more reliable, more fixable, funner to drive, safer to drive, and get much better fuel economy.

 

Actually about half the daycabs i drive are 13's they are 2024-26s

 

Back when many had a stick they didn’t do the floor it and brake hard routine that’s so common nowadays even in semis . I still run a stick and try to flow smoothly in heavy slow traffic. This jackrabbit stuff just creates backups because far back cars are literally stopped now due to the sea of brake lights from a few unaware drivers .

 

My first pickup was a 69 Chevy C10 with a very sloppy three on the tree gearshift. Talk about something difficult to drive. I’ve loved manual transmissions ever since tho lol.
