Oh, it definitely is just pandering. Outside of Road Check I haven't seen an open weigh station in the last year and a half. Granted I'm running nights, but if we're not inspecting then we're not enforcing anything. 3 million inspections nation wide, 56% with violations, 20% OOS rate.
The “weigh act” bill

What this will do is put it from a simple regulation that can be changed with a executive order like it was done in 2016 to put it into law where no executive order can override itPowder Joints and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
-
I'm for whatever it takes. However we're expecting the same people to clean up the mess that allowed it to happen in the 1st place.
Oldman83, blairandgretchen, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -
One threat of losing federal highway funding and it’ll be overridden
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
It's a national bill, so who's going to be threatening to withhold federal funds?
-
My mistake, saw Florida and just assumed was state.
-
What law can't be overridden by an executive order these days?
-
How about nine because an executive order cannot override a law that’s on the books go back to school and learn something
-
That would depend on somebody actually doing something to stop it.
-
It’ll be interesting to see if some of these drivers get tested in multiple states. Passed ELP In one state then gets shutdown in another.
That’s about all that would need to happen to set lawsuits in motion.
All this and it’s only a oos violation.
