If you ever arrive at a customer and find the load is cancelled, make sure you get the $150 VNU fee. It's not much but it's something. Still sucks bigtime when a load cancels that goes where you need to go. Over time you'll learn which customers have cancelling issues a lot. From what I've seen it's not necessary a "time of the year" thing, but a certain customer at a certain location, thing. Home Depot in Port Wentworth, GA comes to mind - I swear 2 out of 3 loads that come out of this place cancel. Some days you'll go in there and there are lines of bobtails parked outside the gate calling their dispatchers because of cancelled loads, until the blue light special guards come running up in their golf cart to chase everyone off.

Sorry to hear about the loss of a family friend - that's always tough. Prayers go out to everyone involved.

Back in NC tonight, delivery in VA tomorrow then unless a block of gold lands in my lap it'll be time to bobtail home for the weekend. No intentions of sitting through this load board "outage" that will no doubt last 3 days when they royally **** things up and it takes 3 times longer than expected. Since the loads I usually run show up the night before, that'll be a definite no-go for me when it comes to staying moving.

Ive received two VNU payments along with detention pay of 300 at a shipper in Laredo who couldn't figure out that in order to make me legal on my drives (36,400), they would need to do more than move a few boxes from the mid-back to the very back. After the second such failure, I finally told the "supervisor" what needed to be done. They finally offloaded the whole box, put someone else in charge of it, and got it right.

Thanks for the reminder, DFO. Fortunately, my team seems to be on the ball. Been pretty happy with them too.

How far south? Snow in the I40 corridor, ice in the I-85 corridor.

thinking of doing the same from now on...
a few extra $$$ isn't worth the stress and danger of ice and snow.

I hit ice today a few times today when I was bobtail on I81.. man that was scary. :biggrin_2552:
