In daily driving, we see a lot of crazy stuff. Been looking through videos to see if I could find one that shows a sudden traffic stop on the highway and a massive accident as it unfolds. Scottie, if you have one, please post it...thanks.
Ever see a person driving a car that doesn’t have full control. No one in front yet has to tap the brakes. Or running 65 mph in a 70 mph zone and slams on the brakes when they see a cop. Or can’t seem to see the big flashing sign telling everyone to switch lanes because that lane is closed. This person is Dumaz. Dumaz is Braindead. Holds a steering wheel and drives around empty headed. Alone, Dumaz is just a nuisance. But bring Dingleberry around and bad things happen quickly.
Dingleberry lingers around another’s rear. Either tailgating or matching speeds with your trailer. If you are a tailgater, 1.) you cannot see 2.) you do not have an out when Dumaz does his thing. 3.)is almost always AT FAULT in an accident.
Stupid is Dumaz’s more intelligent sibling. Stupid knows better, is a better driver hands down than Dumaz, but screws up by always choosing the path of least resistance. When Stupid meets up with Dumaz and Dingleberry, expect something bad to happen.
What went wrong? When do you see the danger? How do you avoid these situations? Which is Dumaz? Which is Dingleberry? Which is Stupid? And why?

Btw, new bloods, just a discussion. This is every day on the road. The sooner you recognize the Darwins, the better prepared you are.

Dumaz is the first black car. Going too fast for conditions and realizes it, slams on the brakes in the left lane.
Then Dingleberry comes along in their own little world and runs into Dumaz and Stupid (the truck).
Why is Stupid in the truck? Not paying attention to what Dumaz is doing, and not preparing for Dingleberry to do their dirty deed for the day. -
Dumaz wanted to pass the truck. Dumaz doesn’t have full control of his vehicle. When you’re driving along and look in your mirror, you’ll see him struggling to pass. Why is he struggling to pass on an icy road in North Carolina? And you will see Dingleberry following too close. Dumaz wants to get in front of you and Dingleberry is pushing him. Dumaz speeds up to pass and realizes that he is driving too fast for his ability. Dumaz’s plan was to get over in front of the truck and slow down. It’s what they do. He would have brake checked that truck as soon as he could have gotten over to the right. ITS WHAT THEY DO. You know that’s what he wanted to do.
It’s not about whose at fault and who caused what...it’s about taking yourself out of a bad situation. This is every single day on the job for us. Yes, we know the truck wasn’t at fault, but he almost ate a guard rail. Or hit a car on the shoulder.FoolsErrand, Mikaela16, Mortarmaggot and 9 others Thank this. -
I like the one who drives "two-footed" with the left toe resting on the brake pedal. Brake lights come on momentarily [every now and then] and all immediately following behind freak out and engage emergency braking procedures.

Good fable to show the every day BS on the road, Triple VI.
They're out there, learn to recognize them early. Or you will meet them.
The phrase "leave yourself an out" is blocked by dumbaz cutting in front of you and braking.
I often wished FREIGHTLINER was on hood backwards, so they could read it - real big.
Posted before I looked down into a car, and saw a woman eating a takeout of Chinese w/fork!
Had container laying across her left arm, holding fork w/right, and steering w/same right hand?
Really? Passenger, maybe - but driving??? She got the 4 second air horn - for sure! -
Keep in mind, that driver was actually pretty skilled. He did not cut his wheel. If he had cut the wheel (hard jerk), that accident would have been ugly.
But the thing that makes us Stupid is when we know better, which means we have intelligence, but we choose not to use it -

Good on the truck driver for keeping it upright while avoiding the car and guardrail... the offroad bit on the other side of the guardrail sloped upwards at an angle that could present a roll hazard if he'd ramped up it (and likely would have rolled him back down into the parked car).
Bad on the truck driver for not clearing his hood before taking off. Pretrips, people...they involve opening your hood. -
The video quality isn't the best but otherwise it's a great video to show.
The hammer lane goes from being clear to being half clear to clear to being covered with that wet slushy crap. Little black car seems to be following the snow line as opposed to picking a lane, speed erratic around the white stuff.
Traffic relatively light. Car beside you showing idiocy with the snow. Dude in mirror coming up quick. Hammer lane turning white. A lot of signs that you want to back out of it until Mr Black car gets away from you.
