hey people.
looking for opinions and experience with heavy truck engines
looking to buy a prime mover around 500 - 550 HP
looking at towing single trailer
typical trip around 300 klms return max to a landfill with waste transfer trailer
looking at trucks from 2005 - 2012
models western star, mack, KW, etc
want a conventional with 18 speed
after help with whats good and whats not.(engines mostly) we have currently
a fleet of Jap rigids, and this is our first bigger truck.
want to get it right first time we hope
have heard DD with EGR are not to good, what are CAT, MACK & Cummins
engines like?

Don't know what's available down under but a cat C-16 7CZ will move all the weight you want.
Their pretty hard to come by these days.... -

Far_Call is the Cat Guru in Australia. Oz is running a 3408. You need a good large horse to pull those trians in Australia.
