The broker lied about the reefer temperature

You’re assuming the broker knew the correct temp to begin with.

 

If the bills say load is supposed to be -10 and the stuff is 35 refuse the load for being to warm. If the broker said it was supposed to be 35 and the shipper say it -10. I guess that up to you, call broker and refuse the load for that reason or ask for more money if you have run it at -10 vs 35 like the broker said.

He arrived at the shipper empty pre-cooled at 34? Then once there told it was a-10 load. Nothing was ever put on his trailer.

Why does it even matter?

It was a cheap load that they booked to get out of a crap area and then the load details changed once at the pickup.

Pay more or go pound sand.

New or old -10 puts more wear and tear on the unit than 35 degrees..anyone who disputes this isn’t too bright to begin with.

Minus 10 will use more fuel raising the cost of running it.

Imagine this being a 5 day cross country run and tell me you or anyone else would eat it

 

We don't know what the rate was, where it was going, ect. He said cheap and was concerned with frozen in the summer so it's easy to surmise that the reefer isn't in the best condition.
Why pull reefer if the unit isn't able to handle the load regardless of the outside temp.

 

I get what you’re saying but I’d asked for TONU and left. That’s bs and is a lot of extra risk new or old. I have brand new stuff mostly and don’t haul -10 but that’s just me. I probably also haul freight that nobody else would or could. Equipment specs, comfort zone, and familiarity can make a lot of difference.
