There are currently 14 people in line for one of these jobs - It might take you a while to get in. In the mean time you could apply for the Sterling, Il account - they are always short of drivers and the pay is pretty good.
good luck![]()

I'm considering CRE for my cdl out in Fontana, can anyone tell me if the day to day schedule while in school will allow me 4-6 hrs every night driving my taxi till is time to go off to phase 1.....thanks
-
The 17 days that you are at the classroom part of the initial training will leave you little time at night for your other job. Especially if you have not studied for the cdl permit before hand.
Then again you might be able to make a bit of money hauling all the other students around town after the first few days when everyone has gotten their permits already.Chapin Thanks this. -
After the 3rd day you will take you written CDL test. Just study the DMV handbook before you enroll and you could pass the written before you even get to class. If you fail, you get two more chances - it's easy.
You get a lot of info in the classroom and while it's good to study, CRE seems to just pass everyone regardless of performance (excepting extreme cases) so if you have to work, go for it.Chapin Thanks this. -
Thanks Bug and Dogtrucker, I'm trying to put as much money as possible before I go back out after 6 years off the road...I would just go with Prime as I've already been pre-hired but my passport has expired so I just requested a copy of my birth certificate from Nassau County back in NY but I guess that's gonna take a few weeks, Prime requires that right away cause of the hazmat requirements, my hazmat already expired, but CRE only needs my original SS card and my DL...I hope that's right cause I'm tired off driving this cab..lol....if not, I guess I'll just wait a few more weeks.

BTW: could you tell me if by the 2nd week of school out in Fontana, I'll be OK with meeting my daughter at around 6pm for a surprise I just found out that she has for me? -
Also, at CRE, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. When your apprenticeship is up - about 7 weeks (I'm not clear here - are you doing an apprenticeship or do you allready have your CDL?)Just tell them, politely but firmly, that there is no way you are driving for $0.26/mile; that if you can get on this or that account, fine otherwise you got to bounce for a better job and will just pay the tuition: this strategy is almost guaranteed to work and in the unlikely event that they put you off, you didn't loose anything. Again, CRE can't afford to fire you just to call a bluff - they are desperate for drivers - that's leverage you can use.Chapin Thanks this. -
Thanks again Dogtrucker, I will only step away for a moment from the hotel that evening.....I have a feeling that I might be a special dinner.....im gonna swing by the actual school later today and ask them straight up....if it is an issue, I would just reschedule, simple as that.....again, THANKS

As much as CRE runs it like boot camp, it is still just a job. Not an enlistment.Chapin Thanks this.
