They have good management and all the drivers seem happy and will go out of their way to help another driver. Plus it’s a very spacious terminal which is a big deal when it comes to our yards. Lol

Most AP terminals have good management and drivers though, but this one just seemed like every driver I met wanted to talk and kick back. It was just very fun to be at.

Anybody work for AP or Airgas out of La Porte, tx? Trying to get into cryo got 3 years tanker experience. Just applied for the local AP job there, hoping they hit me up.

New to this thread, I would eventually like to work with linde or Airgas or AP/Messer etc. Hope you get the idea there. My question to you guys is, do these companies care more about the 3 years of tractor trailer or they NEED to see that I also have tanker experience. I am trying to avoid job hopping with all these companies. I am out of Charlotte NC. Air gas & Messer are near me.

I can only speak for Air Products. AP only cares about the driving experience. They’ll train you on the rest, the Air Products way. Doesn’t matter if you’re from another cryo or from a freight company.

The only cryo job that I've seen recently that specified tanker experience was team driving for Linde.

Your BIGGEST problems....going forward with cryo at a private carrier....seem to be:

    • Working night & weekend shifts for quite some time -- until a better shift becomes available -- GOOD LUCK with that
    • Safety dept protocols & the nitpicking that comes from safety personnel -- as they try to justify their existence to management. Get used to driver-facing cameras -- if you aren't already
Never mind whether or not you already know how to drive...

Yeah I hear they have AI in their front facing cameras tracking your eyes to make sure you’re looking ahead etc. Messer& Matheson seem to be the only companies not requiring 3 yrs of experience around NC. Thanks for the response

Stay away from Matheson. I’ve never heard anything good about them.
