I have elogs and every now and then the day I'm about to recap will show my drive time is in violation.

The drive time line doesn't turn "red" until the day before it recaps.

Does it do this because I've gone over my 70 hrs somewhere?

Sounds like you're running an eLog system I'm not familiar with.

On the Qualcomm system at midnight the hours come back automatically. If I had two hours available today on my 70 and more coming back at midnight, then I can start my clock at 10:00 pm (home time) and get underway. The clock will run down to one minute at 11:59 pm, then at midnight the recap hours appear.

IIUC you might be starting your clock earlier than 10:00 pm in my scenario. In that case you have to park the truck and go off duty before your available 70 runs out, then wait for midnight to get hours back. If you don't park it you are in violation of HOS.

Likely no, but do you have a safety manager you can ask about it?

Add the times up yourself to see if you went over somewhere.

I don't think it's the scenario you used as an example, because when I put myself in sleeper berth last night I had 2 minutes left on my 70, I stayed in sleeper berth for well over 10 hours.

It's weird because when I put myself in sleeper berth last night it didn't show I was in violation for the next couple days I will recap. Then when I woke up this morning the day I will be recapping tonight at midnight was "red" showing I was in violation while driving.

Are you sure you're getting as many recap hours as you think you are?

It's not hard to use Qualcomm, hell it's almost idiot proof. If you are actually in Violation it will tell you with a loud audible ding and then it'll tell you that you violated the hours of service. Even while driving it tells you in the top right corner how many drive hours you have

I believe so, when i wake up I always have the correct recap hours on my 70.

What were you thinking might be happening exactly

That you are burning your 70 so fast that you're getting zero recap hours.

It's a drivertech not specifically Qualcomm.

It's not that I don't know how to use it but I'm confused why when I put myself in sleeper berth the next 2 days I'll be recapping say I'm not in violation then when I wake up well after being in sleeper berth for 10 hours, the day I'll be recapping that midnight says I'm in violation
