Back in 88' they used fiberglass ramps at a sever angle and those were very slick and hard to go up and down. Many people got hurt on those ramps.

These Aluminum ones are better. What you do is throw table salt on the ramp and that makes it all better.

Just saw that... It means collect on delivery. They have to write us a check.

Just cause your barn is busy, doesn't mean the rest of us are doing so well. One day our entire barn ran 42 bills.... 1/3 of what we usually do on an average day. I came to town with 8 deliveries.

Our theory is that freight doesn't move fast enough cause of the driver shortage, so customers find a new carrier. This causes a temporary spike in sales until they can't handle the volume anymore either, so it goes to another carrier who will also have the same issues.

Possible solution? Maybe pay your guys a bit more to retain them... Maybe entice new drivers? Nope... That's blasphemy

Interesting theory, I agree with this 100%. My place of employment used to be a facility where people would BEG for a job, some stayed on our extra board for years before they were offered full time. I think our top 30 guys all have 30+ years of service, so they have stuck it out. HOWEVER.... we recently had an influx of new business that necessitated the hiring of 12 guys, the company is having a hard time filling the seats. Why? Because in years gone past our wage was exponentially higher than everyone else's, now we're just slightly above the "normal" rate and folks aren't taking the job for the difference. It should be noted that we work a lot of "non traditional" hours and that used to warrant the higher pay.

I belive they require 5 years of experience, Mike. Not sure if you have that or not, they also could have relaxed their standards a bit. And you'd have to move, lol! No locations in Ohio.

I'm brand new to trucking and considered food service as my first option...should I run for the hills or dig in deep?

It's not bad depends who you are do you want to be on the road or do you like going to work and coming home each day?
Do you have a wife and children or are you like me never married with no kids and live with your parents?

Wife with no kids...the OTR jobs just seem overrated to me. I don't know. I'm cool with running 5 days and home 2. I'm not trying to be OTR for weeks/months at a time.

image.jpg Here is the back I must say the slider trailer has been done rather well.

Better then this design which I think is not being ordered any more. I never liked this scheme and I hope it's done for good:
