February 1967. In high school and got the job because the girlfriend of the moment was making promises having to do with baseball if I had my own car.

1950 something Brockway pulling a milk tanker picking up at local farms starting at 3am and back to the dairy at 7am with time to shag ### home, shower and get to school.

Girlfriend turned out to be a liar but I ended up with a 1956 Buick Special Coupe. Cost me $75 and put in perspective by my Dad who mentioned the payment on their first house in Levittown, NY (Long Island) was less than half.

Have you ever thought about how much money a "promising girlfriend' has put into the economy? ;)

I drove one of those when I first moved to Phx in '86, but it was a 26' box truck with a 429 gas engine-5 spd trans w/2 spd diff. No A/C, but it did have power steering.

My ride was comfortable compared to yalls.
1st solo job was with Werner in 2004. Was issued/recovered a 2003 Kenworth w900. Barebones truck, but still ranks as the most quiet truck I've ever driven.
I liked it, essentially only drove freightliners from 2005-2017, now in a Volvo.
