Alright back in the drivers seat again today. Actually today I was in a tad of a time crunch, but not really that awful, made it through no problems and all is well that ends well. Getting late should have gone to sleep an hour ago oh well be alright tomorrow is pretty normal day so that good.

The bank won't let me get a loan on my own which isn't surprising I knew they wouldn't so my folks will have to co-sign whatever no biggie.
Anyhow that's all I got I'll catch you all later.

What's going on kids? It's been a couple days I've been back at the grind stone grinding it out. I had like 16 or so stops today. 14 yesterday and a good few stops on Monday.

Anyhow not bad day overall today actually was done earlier then I thought of course I started way way early.

Any how lets see came home had something to eat this afternoon and then feel asleep for a little while which ususally happens to me in the afternoon. I have to get up real early again so I'm probably going to call it a day.

How has everyone's week been so far?
Usually hijinx around here although yesterday (Tuesday) the load I had was not good usually I can put up with some of there shenanigans, but it was legitimatly bad on Tuesday I gave the loader a solid D.

The guy who I had today was way better then yesterday I give him a B+ actually he should have gotten an A-, ,but he made one fatal mistake that caused my dry section to totally fall apart like a Jinga tower.

Been a tough week already I had a big day Monday 15 stops 800 cases got that done at 3 got the call from the boss and had to take back a route that had been started and had 6 stops left. Well long story short ran out of time had to be picked up and didn't get back to the yard till 7. The rest of the week has been long but I already have 13 hours of ot so at least it's gonna be a good paycheck.
On a positive note it's been beautiful weather down here almost too nice to be slinging groceries in lol

Gosh I'll never forget 2-3 Wednesdays ago when it was like a million degrees around here and we had a transit set run late and my self a boss and another driver went out to bail out a crazy late route. Where I work I swear we just keep going till it's done. However the one thing we do different is, if there is a legit problem and someone is legit behind at least where I work at our yard they will not hang you out to dry if it is a legit thing. If it's a legit break down or transit problem or what ever they will send out the Calvary.I was driving around in the Refer Cargo van trying to get the last few stops off.

One of our old school drivers who's now on night transit told me about the one Thursday in 1988 when he had 30,000lbs stuffed into one of our now long gone tandem axle 28' trailers and he was out on the road from like 4-5am till 10pm at night.

Our old old transportation boss told us about the time in 1992 gosh working back at GFS in the 1980s and 1990s was like totally almost border line barbaric compared to what it is today it was just beyond craziness sometimes I'd like to have a time machine just to go back to those days and work for a day just to see it for my self. I mean not that today is a cake walk, but today is compared to when they had 4 trucks covering from Toledo, Ohio to Erie, PA back from 1988-1993ish. Anyhow old trans boss said back in 1992 a truck flipped over in Ashtabula, Ohio and he went out there with a tractor after he was done with his 25,000lbs route and the tow truck flipped the trailer up right he hooked up to it and finished that route. Said he got back to the drop yard at 3am and it turned around and headed right back out on his route.

You know though what made it so much harder then like today? Well a couple things the loads were way heavier and there was no scan system and the trailers were loaded just however you would open up the back doors and 2,000lbs would fall out. It's better now for the fact that there is a scan system which is just a life saver. I mean imagine looking at 2000 cases and there's not a stop sticker or anything on them just having to scan and keep a mental count.

Plus the trucks they had were good trucks but bare bones compared to what we have today. Back in the day they had bare bones Ford L9000 no creature comforts of any kind. Now we all have late model Volvo's with power windows, heated mirrors, messaging drivers seats the newer trucks have XM Satalite Radio, Cruse Control heat and AC it's like not even close to the same thing.

Although GFS around 1992 when they started slowly switching over to the Volvo's well that was the 1st Gen Volvo's started upping the game majorly on the equipment by the early 2000s it was totally the other direction to the point where customers would say "Oh man you guys at GFS have nice equipment.

We have all new guys in the warehouse.... we can't keep guys out of five guys they hire maybe only one works out so the loads reflect that pallets always tipped poorly stacked and you got to dig dig dig all day long. But other than that great lmao

HEY LONECOWBOY i start with MBM in aurora on the 17th of OCt. I got online trying to find out as much as can as far as what to expect. Ive found alot of good stuff through your posts as well as a few others. Anyway i can get in contact with you to kinda get a better understanding of what my weeks might look like? i know ill be on the extra board and such. I live in Cheyenne and want to make sure that the cost of driving there each week is gunna be worth it and im concerned about hometime. John and Bobby couldnt really be very detailed with me during the interview. FSA in Loveland also offered me a job and im kinda stuck between which is going to work out for me in the end. Im not afraid of hard work or anything< matter fact both these jobs will be easier than what im doing currently. Anyway Thanks in ADVANCE to you or anyone that has some input. im still learning how to use this forum so forgive me!
