The Wyse bars have a spring loaded ratchet mechanism in them that will let the handle whip around uncontrollably. They were all like that when we first started using them, and then Gene added a cylinder similar to a screen door closer to slow it down. It's fine until that cylinder fails, and then watch out.
One broke my pinky finger last fall. I wasn't the first, but I am the last, at least here. With that handle being at the height that it is, it would be devastating if it whipped around and hit someone in the face or upside the head. We had a driver with broken bones in his hand, and I know of a driver from another DC that had a broken wrist.
That's an old McLane logo, but there must be a lot of those labels left over, because we still use them. Heck, I find a lot of save-a-load bars that are yellow anodized aluminum and have Ameriserve stickers on them lol.

I'm wondering how that McLane Load Bar ended up property of GFS I was standing there going "Where did we get this from?"
-
maybe somebody permanently "borrowed" it
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
A transportation company I used to work routinely had representatives from a rival company show up with law enforcement and a search warrant to retrieve "lost" equipment. Just being cheap, they didn't us pay the arbitrary we were supposed to get for using that equipment either.

Fun times at work today easy peasy, they took my route and used it to train on so I rode with another guy today we, were done by noon, pretty ABC-123. Not much to report.

If I had to speculate, it got pulled off when loading a backhaul and not put back on. Then ended up on a GFS trailer.Mike2633 Thanks this.

That only makes sense probably came from our Brighton, MI warehouse and who knows could have circulated all over the system.

Hey kids, what's going on today?
Me I had 702 cases of which one was missloaded on another truck and 2 others were returned. I've been busy driving my 2006 Cornbinder around. I've decided I don't really like the Meritor 10 speed transmissions. I like the 10 speed Volvo Eaton Fuller Transmissions better.
Of course this International has 400,000 miles on it and is 10 years old and has been in spare service for only god knows how long and has been used and abused.
Would be nice if the shop decided to bring my Volvo back I would really dig that.
The Internationals aren't as good I think as the Volvo's the Volvo's are more luxurious although I can't say the Internationals are uncomfortable, but the Volvo's are much more designed with the driver in mind, the Volvo hands down I think is a better truck. The cabs are bigger and more luxurious, the Volvo's have more creature comforts and I think and wouldn't be surprised if the Volvo's are a tad more expensive.
It seems the Volvo's definatly though are higher end then the Internationals.
I guess from what the company said the shop doesn't like working on the Internationals the electronics are real difficult and there's an over abundance of them.
I know the beer company I worked at most of the side loaders were Freightliner and the bulk trucks were a mix of International, Freightliner, now they even have a couple Volvo's and CNG Kenworths. -
Definitely prefer the Volvo's myself, and the VNL over the VNM too (better headlights, and cup holders). Trouble with the VNL's is they're longer and have more front overhang. Our single axle VNM's are nearly yard-horse short...wonderful for stuffing a 53' drop-deck van in places where it was never intended to go.
Booted 1600 cases off yesterday, dragged a rented 53' conventional van with tandems stuck at 45' all over Rockville MD, and thankfully left the telephone poles and signage as it was. Irked quite a few 4-wheelers who couldn't understand why I was button-hooking every right turn and thought it was their cue to pass on the right.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I think we have the VNM's here in the states GFS Canada has the VNL's GFS Canada has all the cool equipment.
