Both, I would like to know what the tv money is, and what the loads pay real drivers. Someone on this site said 90k a season for real drivers? Those loads have to pay pretty well. But just guessing .

This also can be said for Deadliest Catch. Since the doing away of derby-style crab fishing, there is absolutely no reason to ever put yourself, or crew, into a dangerous weather situation. My father, may he rest in peace, was a skipper and owner of a crab boat and knew every single one of the skippers portrayed, and the whole show would drive him batty. Now, back in the day, you'd fish no matter what the situation, but it just isn't like that anymore.

(I haven't (can't - it makes me sad) watched the show since my dad's passing in 2008, so if things have changed on the show, I'm oblivious.)

What gets me is how they use their horn every time they meet another truck, real professionals. Or how about being outside in -50 degrees with no hat? I've been in Alaska and British Columbia in the winter. But hey, its great entertainment and I like the scenery, so get some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Not everything is as it seems.

The the constant horn blowing is not the actual truck. Thats post production. They drop that audio clip into the scene. Thats just a small fraction of things they do. SO many scenes were spliced to create a situation that didnt actually exist. Its just entertainment. Not reality.

Yeah. That makes total sense. The show wouldn't be that interesting if they didn't "hype" it up a bit. Not trying to say that the job isn't dangerous, cause it really is. But some stuff they draw out quite a bit for entertainment value. I just hope my five year old nephew isn't glued to the telly, thinking his uncle is some kind of bad-### for being a trucker (which I am not. I consider myself a professional driver that listens to bad-### 80s rock). Regardless, I watch it since it beats Jersey Shore and most of other American television programing.

I will watch the show until its dead. Its entertaining, I watched all 6 seasons, cant stop now. I love the scenery and of course the trucks and their loads.

I recognize all the spliced scenes, dubbed over audio, some voice over dubbing, the drawn out scenes that try to make something more dramatic than it is etc etc etc etc etc.....Stuff i didnt know of or realize until after season 3. But I try to ignore it and enjoy it.
