Too old for a paper run - too young to retire !

At 44 I’ve got another good 20 years trucking in me I think.

Worth remembering, we started with almost no debt - maybe 50k all told on an old HELOC and other bits. New trailer loan - cash old truck.

Hey @blairandgretchen , I do not see pilot and escort cars in the accounting, and figured they would be a significant expense?

Where those deducted before the Reported revenue (LS reimbursed expense)?

Out of curiosity what is the normal accounting for paying for those guys? Who gets the bill carrier, truck, truck owner, agent/broker?

    All deducted before reported revenue.

I can pay pilots cash/com check or submit invoice with paperwork to LS and have them pay - for a fee of course.

Permits bill to LS under my truck number and are paid - with a fee of course . . .

It just feels high. Physical damage on my truck is 91 and the trailer is 39. 25 for bobtail. That's with 1k deductible on each.

    blairandgretchen and Feedman Thank this.

    Blair, looks good.
Just as an aside, being a door slammer at Schneider netted nearly the same.
I only say this for folks that are considering which way to go. Yes, the rates for ya'll are much better, but the expenses are much higher. My net was $118,605, (gross $168,000).......less probably $5-8k for local stuff (tires, accountants, whatnot).
Happy New Year......and didn't mean to hijack you.

Ya but how many days did it take to hit that number? I'd almost bet my left arm Blair spent more time away from the truck.

very well could be Spyder. But I know this much, I didn't run any more than I wanted to.

And you're missing the overall point. But, that's to be expected.

The normal dollar or 2 comcheck fee per transaction, or something more significant?

Don't want to pry too hard, But I was blind to that aspect of the business as a van.

    Feedman and blairandgretchen Thank this.
