He is a good friend, but there’s more to that story.

    There usually is.
Out of propriety and good manners, I won't ask for details.

Blair I had such high hopes for you until the shorts and sneakers comment. I wear my Carhart shorts and shirts daily, but that is acceptable attire in my industry. You are in luck as I have a couple ideas how you may be able to over come this Professional appearance issue with a blast from the past for acceptable Driver clothing. I personally like the uniform but the driver in front of the cabover was the look back in the day. 51348981-0D07-477B-8696-223CBB951B19.png EC8F2784-3EBD-4EB3-BC91-24248172C7DD.png

Too bad that’s Dick curless and not a truck driver. Probably why he’s wearing such professional clothing.

Now the other guys is the real deal. Two stickin’ with no safety belt and still is clean and crisp. And that ring is straight up baller.

In the late 80’s when I owned my first rig I also made trips to the the local Western store for my daily attire. That is how many of the flatbeders dressed at the time and I did also. Times have changed, some for the good and some not so good. In the past I would have blended in at Gilley’s. Today more likely blend in on the golf course with a high level of professionalism at all times. One’s professionalism is more likely to be better viewed by one’s actions performing one’s profession. A bridge strike in my industry is likely career ending and should be with the tools we have to avoid it. I do like my Carhart shorts but I didn’t change my quest for constant professionalism with them. I can’t think of anyone on this forum with more professionalism than Blair, even with his shorts and sleeveless shirt!

Save that attire for when you're brokering shady art deals.

I wear Khaki shorts, pocket tshirt and sneakers everyday. I do carry boots and jeans with me in case they're needed. If I was pulling open deck I would wear the boots & jeans while loading and unloading if I felt it was safer. I really don't care about all this "how a trucker is supposed to dress" nonsense. I don't agree with wearing flip flops because it's supposed to be against the law to do so while driving a CMV. I do wear them at home on occasion. The freedom to choose my daily attire is one of the perks of driving a truck. If I wanted a dress code I'd work in an office or a shop.
