The latest & greatest or just average & overpriced?

Has anyone tried the LMR400 or LMR600 coax? If so, is it actually worth the price?

I saw LMR900 too but that was far beyond overkill at close to $100 for a 6" jumper, similar to a couple fancy named types I've seen popping up.

Looks nice & chunky but I'm wondering if you're really just paying a ton more for double the poly insulation & maybe a thicker jacket.

One looked almost the same diameter as the PL259 connector itself.

Why are you using any of these?

    Are you running 5kw?

Just go get DX engineering 8X.

1/10th of that. I'm not using any of it personally, just been looking around for something durable looking & these kept popping up.

Are you thinking of using this for base station use? I recommend RG 213. As far as your question goes, I doubt anyone on this forum would use such expensive coax for CB use .

EDIT: After further thoughts, there maybe some members who use the LMR400 coax, but the LMR600 and LMR900 would be overkill for CB and Ham radio.

Hoping to upgrade both base & mobile. I was using what seemed to be nice "Handmade in the USA" rg8 or rg8x. While it looked great from a few feet, upon closer inspection the heat shrink was loose not providing any seal. Basically slipped back & forth at will.

Once I shrunk that to stay put, one jumper lost the pl259 entirely. I should've checked if it was even crimped but it was a bear of a session also trying some right angle f to m adapters whose pins de-soldered at the 90° joint once 200w was applied.

The spare jumper (same make) between the radio/meter that initially caused the concern had the pin snap off in the meter although I was gentle with it & pulled straight back by the barrel nut once unthreaded.

I may have thrown all of it out (my 18ft also lost the brass pin) but I'll see if I saved any to check for the assembler. He had a really huge eBay store only selling coax when I bought it (akin to a current like WiFi Expert) but can't seem to find him any longer.

Sorry to hear that, I was under the assumption that the USA 8-X was a better quality coax than just the RG 8X coax. I noticed it has dual shielding which is a plus. I usually order coax in bulk, then I put on the PL-259 connectors myself. I purchased 150 feet of USA-213 a few months ago. Its not a stiff coax like some brands are, and is very easy to work with. A few years back I bought some PL 259's that were crimp on, and the center pin you soldered. They work very well, and easy to install, I wish I would have bought these a long time ago. I'm not sure when the crimp on connectors were made, but I heard the horror stories about them. But the crimp on connectors today work great. The installation tool can be pricey, but they work far better than the cheaper crimp tools, so its worth the extra dollars. Plus I install BNC connectors too with the same tool. I buy my coax from Quicksilver Radio | The Best in Ham Radio

I like the 240 ultraflex for a big truck and the 400 ultraflex for my personal vehicle
It isn't a question of kilowatts as much as the amount of copper in the outer shield bonding to your sheet metal roof.
