I accidentally learned that 2 of the biggest trucking companies in America have a majority of OTR drivers with 0-90 days or 0-180 days experience. Chances are those companies CR England and Werner are not vastly different from 20 other of the biggest companies. For about 20 years airlines have been trying to replace experience and skill with increased use of automation. Trucking companies are also trying to slap a technology fix on a personnel problem. Airlines get better results because they operate in a simpler environment, they have real-time monitoring of each flight with various professionals on the ground, and they have 2 qualified operators per aircraft. Trucking operates in a more complex environment, vehicles going opposite directions passing within 6 inches of each other, less training, in much larger numbers, with much much less support from outside of the vehicle.

    So have I.

It’s doesn’t matter on my Pete. Cruise or not, the proverbial sword of Damocles that I like to call “ghost braking” most definitely exists.

    stwik and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

That problem seems to go away if the radar unit is covered with snow.

    D.Tibbitt and snowwy Thank this.

I've been on this forum for a little while, and there one thing that I've noticed.

Ol' Six doesn't speak very often.

But when he does... you're about to learn something.
Doesn't matter how long you've been doing this, we can ALL learn something new, and we all need a Voice of Reason.

Six... is my Voice of Reason.

    Always the same.
