Say an agent and I agree on a $1300 line plus Fuel surcharge on load ,then I get $1100 plus fuel on my settlement? Does this happen here at LS often? And if so, how do we, the risk takers and shakers protect ourselves from our own business partners lol

also, when you lease on with L/S, do you run your own authority? If not, then what do you do if say you get sick and out of work for 2 months or so with surgery.....can someone else drive the truck for you or do you lose it all because you got sick ?

No having your authority is being the carrier. Landstar is the carrier. If you need to be out two months, you could get another driver qualified and put them in the truck, or drop the company trailer if your running one, and take time off. No big deal. Lots of guys here turn the key off in December and don't go back out until March.

The agent will email you a freight bill or load confirmation before you pick up the load with all the facts. This is just like if you had your own authority and were dealing with brokers or shippers. I 4 years, I had 2 loads improperly entered and they were corrected and reimbursed on my next settlement.

You can also print or email the load as it appears on the load board. I always do this if I'm taking a load from an unknown agent.

Note the emphasized......In my experience as an independent carrier with a per load sig agreement with LS.....I am impressed with the BCO's that represent LS....I have had only one bad experience in all of the loads I have hauled through LS......So I can only imagine what the L/O's with LS are getting for support. If LS is so bad....Why are Ops lining up to lease on with them?

If you've been crying that much, maybe it's time to look in the mirror and say maybe I don't know as much as I thought and I should try and become a better business owner.
