Hey guys, been away for a while, I’ve been off the road sense 2/2015, but the company I’m with is changing direction, and thinking about going back out, but not as a company driver, I’ve owned trucks in the past, and if I must go back out, I want to buy a truck, thinking signing with Mercer, they use to be a good company to be with, so I’ve heard, any guys on here with them?
Any other companies that will hire an OO that pays descent you can suggest
Thinking I might need to go back to OTR

I've been out of the loop longer than you, but I don't think you could pick a worse time to become an O/O, my friend, and if I need to tell you why, you haven't been paying attention to the meltdown that's occurring in the trucking industry. Stick with a company job until things settle a bit, if ever. Sucks trying to sell a truck nobody wants, trust me.
Opendeckin, JonJon78, rachi and 2 others Thank this. -

My opinion is based on your question. Obviously, you want everything easy . You don’t want to read or educate yourself. If you would , you would never ask that question. Everything you want to know is here already . Stay where you at .
I will love to see all of us as independent O/O , but some people should stay and continue to drive for someone .
If you did not get why you did not make it , it may be that you leased to some one . Is my guess only . -
I bought a truck about the same time you got off the road.
@spyder7723 is with Mercer. I’m with LS.fordconvert Thanks this. -
fordconvert, 59EX and 201 Thank this.
