Thinking of getting back on the road

Probably if you put your location would help with some to maybe help you. I personally doing a refresher with mega carriers I would have to be pretty desperate for a job. I’m positive if I had 7 years experience I could find a local company to work for.A refresher at a mega carrier is pretty much a reason just to pay you a low wage.

 

You might check out things with Schneider.

Why?

Because...your time required out on a trainer's truck will be short.

Amazingly short.

Mine was extremely short.

And I was brand new to the CDL world.

Expect to be on a trainer's truck for a week -- or even less.

Then they will cut you loose....with an assigned tractor.

Do OTR for a few months; then put in for either a dedicated account (& home weekly) -- or with their intermodal fleet (again -- home weekly).

No one else in the industry will give you less time out on a trainer's truck (that's still professional grade).

NO ONE.

The problem you are now facing is new(er) insurance company requirements.

No one is willing to insure you -- unless you have a certain amount of RECENT experience.

You may well have to do a certain amount of OTR/regional work -- to get that needed recent experience.

The alternative: KLLM will pay you better than Schneider.

They will assist with both the tanker endorsement -- & also the hazmat endorsement.

With their tanker fleet -- they will really want you to have both of them.

Roughly 75% of their tanker loads are non-hazmat.

With Schneider's tanker fleet -- expect to be out on a trainer's truck for more than a week.
