Depends on the carrier and state. We (Berkshire Hathaway) run any where from 30-55% of first million premium for the next million in coverage.

Post fatality everyone was looking at an umbrella policy shown on our certificate and all were disappointed to find it was for a warehouse customer and not related to trucking.

If something like this should pass, it needs to also bump up the numbers for Haz Mat too.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

    Look who’s pushing the bill.
That smoke damage falls under cargo damage. If the shipper wants higher cargo insurance it has to pay more for shipping.
Liability insurance is used by trial lawyers to get huge settlements for victims’ medical experiences, emotional pain etc.

    Hey guys,

I saw this article as well and was curious, what does insurance generally cost as is, and what would it cost if this bill actually passed?

11 years ago, 165 port drivers in 10 locations was JUST under $900,000.00 with only 100 million.

17 years ago small tank carrier, 85 trailers with 55 tractors, mostly owner operators, five million was $85,000.00 a truck.

wouldn't want to pay their bills in today's market.....
