I vacation at the house. A weekend in Atlanta sounds miserable to me.
I do the time/$ calculation more often these days than the rate per mile.
This is how you #!$! on brokers and shippers.

That's a great point right there. It's OK to make you sit for hours on end with the logbook (or now that ELD thingy,) ticking away if it's on their terms...how's that work? Or better yet, WHY does that work?6wheeler Thanks this. -
My hat's off to your dad....good man!wore out, Lepton1, jamespmack and 1 other person Thank this. -
I do this all of the time. Usually as soon as I'm empty. Been doing it for years that way. Sometimes I do book loads after I get empty if I'm in a good area. I actually love doing that it's like a bonus. But I will not lose money and time on cheaper loads. I can overnight back to the good stuff and make at least the same money as someone hauling cheaper loads bridging gaps. They waste more time than me. They're working harder to earn a buck. If you can book $5+ on solo runs 500 miles or less you are foolish to waste time with cheap loads going back to them. Go back empty as soon as you are empty and do it again, unless, you are empty in a $5+ market.Oscar the KW, Ruthless, DSK333 and 4 others Thank this. -
Kept telling him he was encouraging low rates in the area and running himself ragged for little reward.
Obsessed with low dead head and keeping loaded miles high.
I showed him how my deadhead went from 15% to 50% over three years, while rate per mile to the truck increased 50% - to no avail.
Different trailer types, but I still couldn’t see much difference.bzinger, DSK333, MagnumaMoose and 4 others Thank this. -
Kinda sounds like cow hauler logic to me.
