This Trade War is biting. Imports are down and slower trade is not good for Truckers.

    Yes, it is.

China started rejecting a lot of recycling due to "contamination " shortly after Trump's Tarriffs.

For that to happen, America would have to go under massive market corrections that last years, maybe even decades of undoing. So many businesses and jobs would sink in the process. Instead of spiraling upward, we spiral downward which would be terrible. And everything here would be expensive to Americans and to everyone else around the world. No one is trading with America when they can trade with China where it is cheaper. Industry in most sectors would relocate because America isn't the only customer in the world. Closing trade with China is foolish for all parties involved.

It becomes a national risk when America cant maintain its economic superiority. That's why we have to be careful with laws and regulations that butcher business activity.

Heaven forbid we don't have an inexhaustible supply of substandard imported products at the absolute lowest prices possible to move around.

I'll take a slow down for a while if it means leveling the playing field.
The FACT is.. the Chinese have zip without us.
If we aren't purchasing all of those garbage imports that those pollution spouting factories are pumping out, their economy CRASHES.
It may take a wee bit.. but they'll come crawling to the table.

    All we want is EVEN.

It has been heavily tilted against us for so long we can't afford to NOT do this.

We are the economic super power. We have the money to spend on stuff most people in the world could only dream of. China needs us to buy all the cheapest junk they sell. We don't need to keep buying cheap Mr. Coffees. We can afford to but something made better that would last much longer. The Chinese need us to buy the cheap junk so they all have jobs, because most people in the world cant even buy Mr Coffee all plastic junk.

Look at something like steel. China made steel is cheap compared to US made steel. That because it made my the Chinese government forcing their people to work for cheap. Then we let them import it to the US without any tariffs. That's crazy, they put tariffs on US steel in China. Plus the bigger problem nobody in China even has any job or manufacturing that would buy US steel. They would buy the steel they make with basically slave labor vs buying high priced US steel.

We have enough extra spendable income, that we can afford to buy clothes made in US. We don't need them all made in china or some other countries. We like them made in other countries because they are cheap.

How can you tell a poor sap that makes minimum wage to shop for American made stuff if the guy is living paycheck to paycheck. Plus this whole psychological issue of job insecurity in his/her mind is preventing him from borrowing to pay for expensive American made products.

We can look back and see how thing were when we made a lot more thing in the US. When me made thing to last longer vs today or importing stuff that is cheap and does not last long. I would rather buy stuff made in US that would last longer and pay more for them. That person living pay check to pay check could hopefully get a better paying job, because the stuff they make has a higher profit and it built to last. So more people will buy it.

Well, minimum wage earners had better purchasing power back then too. Debating this issue is like debating which one was 1st chicken or egg. It’s pointless....

While I've also gotten to where I will buy quality, where it's made makes no difference to me. A quality product is a quality product. Doesn't matter if it's stamped made in China or made in USA. On the same hand, a crap product is crap. Doesn't matter if it's stamped made in USA or made in China.
As for making things to last longer... Well the American consumers have spoken loudly about that. They want cheap stuff over more expensive, longer lasting stuff. Stuff made in China are not made to be junk. That's simply a side effect of low tolerances for faster assembly and lack of quality control to push them out faster.

Back in 70s Japanese cars were of inferior quality. But people who couldn’t afford more expensive and better quality American cars gave imports a shot. Look at their quality now. The problem with China now is unlike Japan along with lack of human rights, environmental and workplace protections, they have expansionist totalitarian government.
