You have no business being a O/O at this point. Stay a company driver. You do not have the basic business skills to succeed at this time. You will most likely fail.

Although really tempting at times to say this, I always resisted myself.
Reading through the Prime threads (as an example), and hearing how @$1k a week is a fortune for a "O/O", I just crack up.
I cant think of any other industry, where someone who has no clue about being in business, or the industry as a whole, can go and buy a business with no money down etc.
Would love to see a bank managers face if 90% of the flease operators walked in and asked to borrow a swift $130k to buy a truck, when they have been driving a whopping 12 months....and wouldn't know a profit and loss statement from a bar of chocolate.
Same goes for working on them, if you cant do basic maintenance/repairs, you have no business owning one, just IMO of course.
Wait in line to get a bulb changed? Idiotic.

Like I said, just my .02 and dont mean to make anyone cry or get all defensive.
Think it's getting to the point of needing a flease operator section, separate from the owner operator section.

After your ONE year of driving? I'll take that for what it's worth...

40 years in the industry, I say he has a pretty good idea, and like quite a few of us, is getting sick of reading about all the flease operator wannabee's that think they know everything, after a year of holding a steering wheel.
The biggest winners by far in flease deals, are the trucking companies. Period.

In my opinion the problem is this new entitlement generation's attitude. The twentysomethings who feel they don't need to work hard for a goal. But I digress....

Money + CDL expierence does not = success. You still have to have some business skills.

L\P through company does not = failure.

I politely have to disagree with you. Im 24 this month and am on my 2nd new truck 1 old. Why? Because i run my rear off every day every week. I stay away from lease purchas tho ;)
