An opportunity has come up for me to switch from being a regional driver averaging 2300-2700 miles a week and out 6 days a week to being home everyday, working 5 days a week and making more $$$.
AAA Cooper is going to be picking up a contract with a mill 30 miles from the house soon and will be locked into it for the next few years.
We all know recruiters like to bend the truth but if the job posting is correct, I don't know if i can pass it up.
I haul out of paper mills all the time with roll stock and see wood chips being brought in constantly but not with them.
Just wanted people's opinions on wood chip hauling and also ACT. I see their trucks all the time but with dry vans and know they were bought few years ago by Swift-Knight.
Thoughts on both ACT and wood chips hauling??

If you have an offer, take it. Even if the money is the same, you would still be ahead.

Next to tanker work, hauling chips is the easiest on your body. A lot of the companies out here have gone to electric tarps to eliminate the climbing and wrestling aspect of the job.
I'd give it a shot.Rugerfan, kemosabi49, lual and 2 others Thank this. -
I hauled chips out of the bush NW Ontario. It’s ok, pay is decent…i pulled 4 axle trailer. It’s one of those jobs you get conditioned to as many guys in my area it’s the only trucking they have ever done.
I was assigned a truck and given free rein to do as many loads a week as i wanted. Many of the trucks run double shift -
Around here gotta be careful, they load them to 90-95k and dot targets chip haulers
