So the hubby started on with Schneider this past week and he got a speeding ticket one afternoon coming home from orientation in West Memphis, AR. I felt partly responsible for his stupidity as I'd called him an hour prior telling him I wasn't feeling great (I'm eight months pregnant and felt like I was having contractions). Arkansas trooper clocked him going 86 in a 65 and wrote him a ticket for 15 or more over with no other citations on the ticket or mandatory appearance in court. He's never been ticketed in Arkansas and the only other ticket he's gotten before now was in our home state (TN) back in 2011. He's also not the type to play victim, he'll admit he was speeding, but I've contacted a West Memphis attorney to see if it can be reduced so this one screw up doesn't ruin his career. The attorney says he'll be able to get it reduced to a 4 over ticket, but I've never had to deal with this and would like to hear anyone else's experience with using an attorney in traffic court...
Ticket for 15 over in personal vehicle.

Yes, hire the attorney to get it reduced to 4 over. If you don't, Schneider will fire him and there's only a couple of other companies that will then hire him and you won't like the paychecks. The attorney may seem expensive, but the fee is better than your husband being unemployed.
Where are you in Tennessee; that's my home state!
In trucking, 15 mph or more over the speed limit is "reckless driving" and probably 99% of trucking companies will fire the driver for that.foggy, brian991219, Opus and 5 others Thank this. -

Chinatown, yeah I don't mind paying the attorney at all lol. The minute he called me about getting the ticket I started googling all the possible repercussions and paying an attorney is the cheapest outcome possible at this point! We're here in Memphis, the armpit of Tennessee...
Dca he was in a personal vehicle, Schneider trucks are governed at 63mph -

2. you call him and said you are not feeling well
3. you told him you felt like you were having contractions
and you call him a "bonehead".. sounds like he was highly concerned about your welfare.
4. if you are 8 months pregnant and not feeling well and feel like having contractions - it is called going to the hospital... -
Where I work you wouldn't get fired, but they would charge you for a collision and give you points for it even if it is in your personal car doesn't matter, usually even in my personal car I set the cruse at 63 which is what my companies trucks are governed at and I let it ride.
MamaB and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

There's some decent jobs around Memphis after he gains a few months experience, but they're only accessible if he gets that ticket reduced.
Two of my cousins lived in Germantown for years and years. Now one lives in Nashville and the other in Hilton Head,SC in a beachfront home. They both say Memphis is the armpit.
