Years ago , I asked another driver if the weight was ok on a load, out of the same shipper, same load. He said no problem, I got a ticket, Next time I saw I told him, he said the scale was closed. So I scale, pay the money then u know.

Not really, depending on the state, you can load more weight, the weight limit went from 73,280 to 80,000, 5 axel truck and trailer, nobody changed tractors or trailers, and did not have any safety issues

I would think that actual CDL driving experience would be automatically disqualifying to a candidate for trucking management........

If the load shifted and caused the issue I would think the bigger concern would be "unsecured load"

Why would any trucking company care if a potential driver had gotten overweight tickets?
Back when I was driving in the late 90s we got OW tickets all the time , in my state it was a penny a pound and we just mailed the fine in.
If it was thousands of pounds overweight , it was a fat ticket and they wouldn’t let you move till part of the cargo was unloaded, but most of the time it was a few hundred pounds over on tandems .

Some states have started legal action for damage to infrastructure.......so those with OW tickets could be brought into the legal action.

I know in a couple of states we have paid big sums for such actions by the state/local government

Cool. Last time I read the back of a cat scale ticket it said only the gross weight was guaranteed. Thank you for the update
