Hi all! I live near a travel-stop gas station by a highway, and I see a lot of semis on the road. As someone that gets really tired when I drive for long trips, I wanted to know what you guys do when you get tired. Do you have truck safety features that alert you, or do you just pull over and nap? Do you get tired often? Thanks!

The only time I get super tired is when I have to flip my schedule from daytime to graveyard and then back again. Because every time you do that it takes 2 to 3 days to fully adjust. Usually when I end up having to do an overnight drive it’s because I’m waiting for hours to come back. And I’ll basically have been sitting there all day wide awake and about the time the government tells me I’m legal to drive again. I’m ready to go to bed lol so what do I do? Get a giant cup of coffee lineup my favorite tunes and hit the road. If you eat right out here and you get some exercise, it does wonders for the sleep though.

We all know our bodies and just when we need to sleep. When trucking, I knew I need at least 4 hrs sleep sometime between 8 pm and 4 am. I preferred 6-8 if possible. I never could drive all night after being up all day. It also helped to stop and do a quick walk around of my truck every 3-4 hrs. Stretch the body a little. When ever I saw trees growing in the travel lane, I knew I needed to shut 'er down, like now.
