Unfortunately, TNI apparently prohibits service animals and refuses to employ people who need service animals. The recruiter today said "it's not illegal for us" and kept referring to my service animal as a "pet" while repeating to me that they have a "no pets policy." So, I guess I won't be applying there. I do believe their approach of taking the ADA clause that a service animal may be refused if it causes undue harm to the company is not legal as a company-wide policy without concern for the individual circumstances and without a good-faith effort to make a reasonable accommodation. TNI is basically saying their company policy is to not even consider making a reasonable accommodation, and to treat all accommodation requests for service animals as unreasonable, which is a violation of the ADA.
They just missed out on a solid driver with 2.5 years of clean MVR and a highly motivated work ethic, but I feel like I just dodged a bullet.

. You are missing the big picture. TNI slip seats and I’m guessing they have more people with pet allergies than applicants with service animal requests.JolliRoger, Lonesome, mitrucker and 3 others Thank this.

It is true pets are not allowed because of slip seating. I'm sure you would have been a valuable asset. I know you will find a company that will happily accommodate you.LoSt_AgAiN Thanks this.

Crete Carriers allows animals. Of all of the megas they are high on the list.

Maybe you could talk them into mandating all drivers get a vaccine for pet allergies to accommodate the four legged Crayola? Then you could go to work for them! Just sayin’

What is your service animal trained to do? -
It's not a REASONABLE accommodation to have to deep clean every truck every day that has a pet in it for an allergic reaction that could occur for the next slip seat driver. Remember pet allergies combined with severe asthma means that service animal posts a liability risk to TNI if they didn't have every pet vehicle cleaned for allergens.Lonesome, T.Rucker, JolliRoger and 2 others Thank this.
