Hi, this is an invitation to take part in a little research project I'm working on.

I was surprised to find that truckers are recording videos on the road and beyond, and I've been browsing through and enjoying a number of them here. I think it's really interesting and I'd love to learn more about what you all are doing, and how trucker videos fit into the community as a whole.

I'm a masters student at Lund University in Sweden, and my project is looking at how people creatively record and share video. We'll be presenting what we find to the networking company Cisco Systems, giving them a better idea of how people actually use technology in their lives - and perhaps how things could be improved in the future.

If you're interested, I'll post a list of questions below that you can answer in as much detail as you like (though the more, the better). If you'd like you can PM me instead.

In addition, if you're up for it, I'd love to do some online interviews over Skype or something similar. If you're willing, feel free to contact me via PM or leave a note here for me to contact you.

And finally, if you don't record videos but have an opinion anyways, feel free to post -- the more the merrier!

Thanks in advance for any who share their stories!

    1. How did you get started recording videos about trucking?

    2. Why do you make your videos? What things, ideas, or goals motivate you?

    3. How do you share or show your videos with people? Do you use any websites besides Youtube and this forum? What about in person, or offline?

    4. Who is your audience?

    5. Do you do anything to promote your videos? Are comments important?

    6. What do you do after the videos are posted online? Do you save them on your computer forever?

    7. What do you want people to think about your videos?

    8. What are some difficulties that come with recording and sharing video as a trucker?

    9. Can you describe your process -- do you shoot videos and record them while you're still out on the road, at a truck stop or something? Or do you get to it later, back home?

    10. Do you look at other trucker videos? How do you find them?

    11. What should a 'good' trucker's videos look like - what look and feel and content?

    12. What defines a 'bad' trucker video?

    13. Last question - is there anything else you think I should know to really understand trucker videos and their place in the trucker community?

Thanks again for sharing your stories and helping me to understand a little about trucking!
