Im going to be honest. You did a dumb and got slapped for it. You parked someplace you shouldnt and paid the price. Ieregardless of if the tow driver was out of line after the fact. You put yourself in that situation. And while it sucks for you. Let it be a lesson that theft has consiquinces. Which no matter how BS paid parking is, taking a paid spot and not paying is still theft.

Well.....if you're going to steal a parking spot, the idea is to stay with the truck. Sorry man. You've earned an $8000 lesson.

Well it was not a smart thing to do, that being said I would take my phone in and show the manager that the wrecker was doing 95 with my truck in tow. I bet you’d get a bit knocked off the bill if you played it right.

It's funny actually. I'm sorry for your lo$$
Carpenter Scotty, bryan21384 and Concorde Thank this. -
I didn't think of this before, but I wonder how many times they knocked on the door. We hear so many times where the driver shows up to claim his reserved spot, and management won't do anything or they knock on the truck, nobody responds so they just say nothing we can do.

#### happens. I got my trailer impounded a couple years ago right after i just bought it and put it on the road. Still had paper plates. Forgot to pull my neck lines out before detaching the neck from the trailer when delivering a telehandler at a residential jobsite. Ripped all my gladhands to pieces. Didnt have any spare parts to fix it, didnt have enough caging bolts. So i dropped it and went to town . Ran out of hours on the elog, so i came back the next morning and it was gone...one of the residents told me the tow company that took it. Then found out it was impounded by local sheriff.... Now comes the fun part, how do u get a trailer out of impound that has paper plates in a different state and im 900 miles from home with all my documents.... What a cluster#### to say the least. They charged me 1k for the tow to go 15 miles. Then i still had to fix the dam thing and took 3 days to get it out of impound...
Im sorry for ur situation but u got to be more careful out here. Alot of tow companies are good but some of them are predatory and they think they can do whatever. Who knows if the truckstop is the ones that had it towed then thats on you. You gotta just deal with the bull and take it by the horns. learn and live to fight another day.Last edited: Sep 16, 2025

Theres no way the 95 thing is true...the speed limit in cali is 55 and there aint no place to wind a truck up that fast to get 95mph around fontana... It was probably 95 in canadians or mexicans would be my guess which google says is around 59 mphW923, OldeSkool and Walk Among Us Thank this.

Well, I think we can all agree this story has more holes than a RR van trailer, however, there's no way a tow truck is going to go 95 mph towing something, I've been in tow trucks pulling a semi, it's pretty tense. A lesson indeed, why would they park there, and yeah, how did they get home? About the only thing I do believe, is the towing bill and storage. These new "rotator" jobs cost over a million bucks, and they have several,, it's not the old "cable and sling" jobs anymore. $8grand, that's a lot of free workin', and I bet won't happen again.
OldeSkool, Carpenter Scotty and Grumppy Thank this.
