Skirts make my putter flutter.

I feel like if there’s any improvement it’s minimal, maybe more noticeable if you drive and have a truck set up for fuel mileage. Otherwise I think they’re just a pain in the rear

That 000.1 gallon of fuel saved is offset by the price of those silly things.
Nothereoften, Bean Jr., Dino soar and 2 others Thank this. -
Im not sure how much it's the skirts, and how much it's everything else like low rolling resistance tires, but I definately get much better fuel mileage when pulling a newer trailer with all those doodads than when im pulling an older one with none of them.
slow.rider, Trucker61016 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
The reason I am asking, is I get a better fuel mileage with my Wabash trailer (with skirts) vs my Stoughton (without skirts). Both trailers are two years old and equally maintained.
Wabash is 68k GVWR and Stoughton is 70k. I don't remember what the actual weight difference is between them.
So basically I am trying to figure out what makes a difference, skirts, trailer weight or perhaps something else.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
They are supposed to help in windy conditions as well.
Less air being blown under the trailer.
I think that is well worth the skirts.Lostmykey, slow.rider, alds and 1 other person Thank this. -
They help more than streamlining the undercarriage but, it's less than 5%.
boxer259 and Rideandrepair Thank this.
