I just don't get it, especially nowadays. I don't, on any application, remember "check appropriate box, man, woman, transgender". I just don't see how this would come up in the normal hiring process. I hope this thread doesn't get closed, and people can keep an open mind here.
And that right there is THE PROBLEM.
Some of us do have an open mind, but for the love of God, to some, it ain't normal, and they got nothing better to do than shoot someone down. as long as a person can do the job, and has done the job, and bothers no one, why be a jerk towards them?
Transgender friendly company?

I have seen, in a handful of smaller companies (non-trucking unfortunately) add a "prefer not to answer" box.
The thing is, it doesn't come up in the normal hiring process. At all. I used to do interviews at a previous job where a manager vetoed a ####-good hire because he was f2m. I'll leavevthe hairy details out, but that manager was fired thanks to someone tipping off the right people...
Im in agreement with you Semi, but my opinions and thoughts about those people are for another thread.
Let it us know what you find and stick around Brittney, some of us have good advice and others we have to advise to be good. Lol
As for why gender is even listed on job applications, it originally was used to make sure a person was right for a job. But that view is from an age which singled out women as being (I'm sorry if I offend anyone, this isn't my personal view) in a way "handicapped" when compared to men. Frankly, I believe that women are more capable than men in many ways and I'm a male myself. All that being said, in a society where gender based walls are coming down there is no place for this question on applications anymore.
Anyways, I'm guilty by means of the wall of text above and my previous post... But let's try and help Brit out here instead of talking about society's ailments and hang ups. We can do that in another thread if we really wanted.Last edited: Dec 14, 2014

After reading your answers to our fellow trucker Ms. Brittany, I'm proud of being in this forum.
Girl, did you try oilfields? I don't know where you are, but if you are willing to move, getting hazmat and tankers will help you to make serious money hauling oil, or work at your city hauling fuel to gas stations and companies.
I wish you the very best, brave lady!"semi" retired, Skydivedavec, Studebaker Hawk and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hi Vilhiem, you're right, but something like this just hits me in the gut and has a tendency to drift. She'll be fine.(btw, you're signature made me laugh)
I understand it, it hits me in the gut for different reasons maybe, but that makes us the shakers and changers. I've got family who is going through this as well as some old friends and someone near and dear to my heart. So we'll get things changed, it'll just take people realizing they are well... My signature made you laugh, so you should know the rest.
I wanted to add this in, but I can't have both! "On the surface, we all appear to be separated. Our continents are separated by water, countries by fences drawn from pencil, or people separated by ignorance. Once you take away the water, pencil, or ignorance then the separation vanishes and we realize that we are not separate, but we are one."
Oh, Brit, what does your driving record look like so far and what do you have experience with? Give us some of the nitty gritty, we are dying to help!Last edited: Dec 14, 2014

Not in the official application, but in the added affirmative action, equal opportunity, or whatever it's called, paper, I have seen the question asked, along with if you are a white, black, hispanic, latino, or other race. It's not supposed to be used against you, but one never really knows."semi" retired and Vilhiem Thank this. -

It's not the application that they care about, it's when you show up and their like "ok". i am getting pulled off my dedicated account if i be mysleef because the customer doesn't like it.The Challenger, "semi" retired and Lonesome Thank this. -
Funny how some of you have used this thread as a platform to blast others (however subtle it may be) for their religious beliefs as it relates to this subject and call them close minded yet claim to be open minded yourselves. I guess that's ok tho. With that, I'll step out...
