LINKS AND INFORMATION PAGES THAT MAY HELP ARE SUPER WELCOME!!!!

Hey all. My husband and I are starting a small hauling company out of VA. There are a few things I am trying to understand better to make sure we are doing this right.
We ARE moving things across states.
The heaviest things we haul is 1-2 cars or things like kubotas.
We are running a 2011 Dodge 3500 Heavy Duty.
    This is commercial Hauling.
YES. Some of these questions may seem stupid or dense but I am new to this which is why I am asking questions instead of playing know it all.

When talking about IFTA...is it 26,000 lbs including the weight of the truck, trailer, and load?
Is 3 axles including the trailer or only the truck?
Do we need IFTA stickers if we never haul anything putting our combined weight above 26,000 lbs.

MC# - is this something we will need to get or do we only need our DOT #?

Do we have to follow all of the regular DOT regs that big rigs do?

What other DOT Regs should I look into for this type of hauling? (Yes we have an E-Log system)

Thank you all for your info!!

    You are in interstate commerce.

26001 pounds make it a class B cdl with a gross COMBINATION VEHICLE WEIGHT at least that much or heavier. Total.

Yes you have to follow DOT rules like the big rigs. You are essentially a little rig. But still. Making a living just like the big boys.

I don't know much about IFTA, but I do know you need stickers for each state you run in. (A old bingo card term which is no longer used since the early 90's with the old ICC which went out of existance in many ways since deregulation in the late 70's)

In your home state you have a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Board. Or similar. These are people who will BE GLAD to spend a day answering any questions you have specifically rather than be a enforcer writing tickets against you for not asking them in the first place. Follow me?

Contact them. In each of the states you run. That way you already understand what is required of you before you get into this hauling.
