The last time I was there the shop that told me they wanted to expand the parking area that they bought the land but the city of North Bend refused to grant permits to build the additional parking because according to the city of North Bend they cannot stand trucks and it’ll be cold day in hell before they ever allow another truckstop to be built in the city..

    I’m
I’ve seen truck stop technicians before. I’m not paying $150/hr for that. I’d tow it first. I might try to rent some tools from them, but if they go near my truck I’ll fend them off with a winch bar. It’s only $110/hr for a service bay and $135/hr for engine work at Kenworth here. $150/hr for what’s bound to be working in those shops is pretty bold.

It seems like TA/PETRO bought back the franchise from Bobby Berkstresser for the Lexington T/A and Whites Petro and will add them to the company controlled stops. I can't imagine why Bobby would give up control to 2 of his great truck stops. I have personally met him and he is a class act gentleman all the way. We'll have the answer soon I'm sure.

Maybe running the day to day operations of 2 truck stops was starting to wear him down, who knows?
But typically history has shown that when T/A gets a hold of a truck stop customer service and food service starts going downhill-and usually starts with half of the parking lot being turned into “pay to park”!!
    Either way,I’d be wary!

That is true. I will miss talking with him though. If you saw him walking through the hallway you could approach him and have a conversation. A very great person and I wish well.

From the CDLLife article, Johnathan Pertchik, CEO of T/A: “Investing in growth through the addition of company-owned sites is one of our key priorities for capital deployment this year,”

Two years ago, the "key priority" was franchising new locations. Now key priority is a 180 degree turn from the old priority to company owned stores? How about just being honest and saying "We had an opportunity that fell into our lap we couldn't pass up on".

I've been off OTR long enough that my memory is starting to fade on some of these locations. I don't recall the Lexington, VA location but I remember the Raphine Petro. It was well run and I'd always stop there for some Popeyes. It's a shame they will be getting the T/A treatment.
