I don't have all the money I believe I may need to purchase a truck. So I am thinking I can start with commercial rentals from penske etc. How do I get my authority this way? And has anyone done such a thing?

You would first need to obtain your DOT/MC authority, insurance and be incorporated, to rent a Class 8 Truck from a company like Penske.

I would like to know can I get commercial trucking insurance without owning a truck in order to be able to get my Trucking Authority. Then I would just use commercial rental trucks from penske, etc until I have enough money to purchase the truck I really want

Rentals aren't cheap. Have you actually talked to a rep from Penske. I talked to one in 2018 and they wanted like $6000 down, plus a per mile fee for maintenance, and I had to have a excellent credit score along with 2 years worth of bank statements.

No I haven't spoken to a rep. But if that is the case I might as well take the lease to purchase option.

You’re better off to wait until you can afford to buy a truck. Sounds to me like you are in a hurry to go broke.

a little advice for that: 1. Send me a check for the total balance of your bank account :)

    2. Go to Vegas and enjoy your money as you blow it. You can bic your head to mimic the hair loss owning a truck brings.
