I work an event production company, and we have a show going from southern California to Washington DC and back. I don't know what the average costs for that also would I also need to rent a semi trailer. Any help would be very appreciated.

There are a few companies that specialize in what you are looking for, they are production transport companies. You can look at the trade rags and find ads in them. I had a couple trucks running NASCAR and then having two transporting on the road show circuits for some TV guru clown, they got paid to drive (only to drive) and then wait, sometimes they would take off and see the sights but be paid for it.

OR any major van line. They all have a division who thats all they do.

Save yourself a headache, call the people who do it for a living. They have the trailers and all the equipment (blankets/pads, straps cornr boards, pallet jack etc) you need. Shows are a whole different animal than regular freight. And if you dont mind having a different driver for the return load. It will be less expensive than paying yo the up equipment and a driver.
