    Hi,
I’m currently based in the UK and at school over here. After leaving school I have to stay in education until I’m 18. But after 18 I would love to come and drive trucks for a company in the USA. I have two questions. A- Would it be possible for me to become an American citizen by being sponsored by a truck company at 18?
B- If so, what kind of thing should I study at college post 16, would engineering be a good option?
    Many Thanks, Josh

Yes, you can drive a truck at 18 yrs. old, but you can't leave the state you live in.
When you are 21 yrs. old, you can drive all 48 and Alaska.
I don't know of a company that will sponsor you to get a visa.
Swift Transportation already tried that and got spanked. Swift even set up a driving school in the UK, but it all backfired.

    Study mathematics and English.
I know you already speak English, but focus on a good command of the language and vocabulary.

MIGHT be able to make that work in a seasonal farm work setting. MIGHT. Those visas are usually horribly over subscribed, but since you speak English, you probably have a leg up as far as finding a farm to bring you in under one of their visa apps.

Except for the accent, don't those in the UK speak the same language as us?

    And to the OP...
You do not need to study anything more to become a truck driver. A basic education is more than enough.

If you just want to try trucking you will probably find it easier to get sponsored in Canada. Once there, if you work for a company that does USA loads you will see more of the US than many Americans. Once traveling to the US on a regular basis, find an American girl to marry then you can move to the US.

Many words are different and many of their words aren't even in American English.
Words such as "lorry" and "loo" and dozens more.
