Don't know the full story but I was stuck in this for 4.5 hours today and was only a half mile away from the scene. The accident took place a bit past Tucumcari but before Newkirk. Police completely shut down i40 westbound.

When I got up to it, the truck was on its side and the cab was gone, nothing but a black smoldering mess left in its place. Hope the driver was ok.

There usually is one everyday between Amarillo and Barstow. I goto California two or three times a year and I see the remnants of a fatality or very bad accident every trip. I missed the Greyhound head on accident by an hour.

Lots of tired drivers pushing the limits out there. It’s the same on I-10.

    Lepton1 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
