If it ain't out there for linux you can run it on wine, which will run most windows programs.

big flop -
Ah. Streets and trips worth the money? I fear anything made by Microsoft ha. It doesn't appear to be made for trucks

aside from fuel,, i cant think of anything more crucial to me doing my job than streets and trips
it maps out the route, points to the destination, i can compare going many different ways, compare mileage, etc, avoid tolls, avoid traffic (with my cb on, of course) and log properly, even my IFTA
i had a gps and would never go back to one, but i am sick of windows and its vulnerabilities, i prefer linux but until i find an acceptable replacement for streets and trips, i am a Billy-boyLast edited: Jun 1, 2013
ThatFlatbedGuy2013 Thanks this. -
as far as truck routes, streets and trips is a map, not a guide
some things you gotta figure out yourself
and yes, it (at times) has tried to have me run thru cornfields, but thats what my steering wheel is forThatFlatbedGuy2013 Thanks this. -
Good thing I don't have it I guess...I'd probably run the cornfield just cause I felt like it...hahaha. I would prefer a truck specific GPS/map so I can avoid the low bridges, truck restricted routes and what not. I'd rather not go down a truck legal route only to discover there's a low bridge. Alas, there is my atlas for that though, but still.

Street and Trips has a GPS locator's option.

i just LOVE the map function -
I use ALK's Co Pilot truck...I have a galaxy tab 10.1 that I run it on...it rarely leads me astray....and the nice 10 in screens a huge plus, not to mention the fact that it can recalculate routes in a flash...and that you can easily with little effort mod your route to the directions given....I haven't had any issues with the program really...
ChipW Thanks this. -
Waze is a good one. Not specific for truckers but its social which means if another wazer has been through the area traffic jams, red light cams, etc are usually posted. You can also share your drive with friends and fam if they wanna know where you are (and going).
The thing is though, not all GPS units will give the best route. One unit might give a better route for a certain destination than the other brand but the other brand might give a better route for another destination than the other. I think it has more to do with who updates details on a regular basis, and keeps routing info accurate at that.
