Truck loses power and blowing black smoke

    I had a loose hose on a 350 Cummins turbo long ago and it sounded like a Hoover vacuum cleaner hose stuck up to my ear. They pack a lot of air.

    All the causes mentioned above sound possible, but on the chance of a dropped cylinder liner (w/head gasket problems), check for unexplained coolant loss > then water in your oil.

    Worn turbo and a delta sensor for the turbo have been my two times for black smoke. Both were isx motors.
