2005 International 9900i. Isx, 13 speed. New drive tires, motor has been replaced with a low mileage used motor last year, both diffs were done in the last 2 years, rad and cac were done last year, batteries and brakes recently, clutch and tranny in the last 2 years as well. Probably forgetting more, those are the big ones.
-It would be a private sale, from a friend, who has the maintenance records for the last 5-7 years.
-Where I'm working now would take the truck on as a broker, the owner said he would help out where he could. He pays percentage and he refuses to pull cheap freight. I've seen rate cons already so I know he isn't hiding anything.
-I've looked at the price per mile spreadsheets on OOIDAs website before and understand mostly how to breakdown costs and set money aside for repairs and whatnot.
-I have a mechanic lined up, and can do a lot of repairs myself.
-I can pay cash and still have money in the bank.
What am I missing?

Sounds like you got a good deal going, why are you apprehensive?
DDlighttruck Thanks this. -
I don't know why- I'm just running it over in my head what can go wrong. The thing that keeps getting repeated on here is have the business plan in place first, then find work, then buy the truck. I think I've done that -
The hard part is done, you've got work.
Now go get the truck & get to work-don't look back!Dave_in_AZ and DDlighttruck Thank this. -
The price sounds right. I assume you are talking in Cdn dollars...? An older truck like that is the smartest way to start as an owner operator. Unless it is rusted really bad I would go for it. The biggest major expenses, engine tranny/clutch and rear ends you can be relatively certain to hold up for quite some time. You know the owner and it's history, that is more than most used truck deals. I would say you have done all your homework, and this would be a good risk to take. All that is left to do is be 100% certain (if you aren't already) and go forward with it.
The worst case scenario, you don't get as much of the good paying work as you had expected, but with this truck you won't be buried under such a high payment it would cripple you.Bean Jr. and DDlighttruck Thank this. -
Keep us posted. We want to see you make it.

Yeh, keep fingers crossed for you!
