Drove past that today at about 13:45 still sitting there. Then coming back out of Portland tonight passed a Roy R Carlson tanker jack knifed off the eastbound side of 84 right at exit 31.

Motorists safety be dammed. We ain't gonna clear up roads in half the time with proven techniques and materials. Don't want a little salt polluting our waterways but loads of hazmat crashing into them is okay

    :biggrin_25523:

Idiot beaurocrats. Make them get out there and clean up those crashes that happen 3 days after the weather cleared out.

"Icy road conditions caused a semi-truck to slide off of I-84 and over an embankment in the Columbia River Gorge early Friday."

I fundamentally disagree. Let me fix it:

"The complete inability of a semi truck driver to drive in icy road conditions caused a semi-truck to slide off of I-84 and over an embankment in the Columbia River Gorge early Friday."

Be a professional. Your job will require you to be capable of safely driving on ice. Learn and ingrain good habits of steering, throttle control, and decision making. Ice should be taken in stride.

How about we agree to disagree on this?:)
This morning, Fox 13 talking heads were whining about how the "potholes are just terrible, right now." But to be "fair and balanced," they did show a UDOT representative telling them that the combination of ice/snow/thawing/freezing was the major cause of this. He then said that the salt and chemicals that the state dumps on the roadways, exacerbate the problem. (FYI, had to look up the proper spelling of exacerbate...)

    FerrissWheel and Lepton1 Thank this.

We all know better, the river sucks. It waits for some unsuspecting driver and inhales. Sucking the trucks off the road.

Believe that one, stick around and I will tell you another. :biggrin_25520:

Well the river does flow west right there so its pretty believable that it sucks going that way.

So you mean to tell me, you shold drive appropriately for the conditions and just because the roads open, doesn't mean you can go full speed. Especially if I15 for example gets closed behind you and your carrying 6000lbs of thermal imaging film. But all you know Is the road is quite and R+L is sniffing his butt. And you just ran into a white out.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
