Its this new math these kids are being taught. 12 foot means it will clear
Tho I am glad the bridge is on a angle. It will help resist impact.

The problem is they just aren't building up enough speed to ramrod er' through. If your gonna try to make it under the "truck stop" half measures just won't suffice. It's kind of an all or nothing thing.

Someone should install a camera there like the guy who runs that 11 Foot 8 (+8) YouTube channel has in Durham...

...Also, I'm in and out of KC more than I care to be since my company's busiest customer is literally a mile from that bridge. It would probably help if the city of KCMO posted a 12'0' sign before the Winner Rd intersection to dissuade trucks from proceeding straight; as it is now, there's a sign posted just past that intersection, and another about 200' before the train bridge, but there's no real good spot to turn around once a truck passes Winner Rd. The last space to do so is the CVS on the left literally right in front of that bridge (and several trucks do exactly that--turn in and circle behind or to the side of that building).

For those who have to go that way down Independence but but don't know how to get around that low bridge, tell them this: make the left @ Winner Rd; follow the road around the bend and stay straight toward the light @ Hardesty. You'll run into the same bridge, but its 13'10" down there. Go under and turn right @ Hardesty, then left again @ Independence to continue west and not end up on Twisted Truckers, this thread, or somebody else's Facebook feed blasting and embarrassing the bejeebus out of ya.

i can understand the TransAm driver striking the bridge, he's most likely, not from that area, and followed his GPS.

    but the Sysco driver?

those guys are local, and he really should have known better.

When you are on your phone texting or watching porn, no amount of signage is going to keep these drivers from doing this idiotic crap. They simply are not paying attention like a professional driver needs to. Instant CDL revocation. No other way to combat this crap.

I hate to be a real hardazz, but I could never understand a Class A driver doing that. Just the fact it's an old concrete bridge should set off alarms. If you go into downtown Indy near the stadium there are lots of those old bridges and I watch them carefully. Even though some are marked 14' I hate going under them.

At least the TransAm driver won't have to walk far to get his walking papers.....
