Hey so I’m at a truck stop in Davenport IA parked on 2 inches of ice as the whole parking lot wasn’t cleaned. Tried to leave this morning and all I was able to do is to spin the tires. I couldn’t get chains on, TCS didn’t work couldn’t drive or even go reverse. Parking lot is not level so I thought neutral would work but didn’t. Even tried to lower the airbags to pull out bobtailing but still drives spinning.
Steering tires were not doing anything. Dispatch was on my *** blaming me for parking here.
what annoys me is other trucks just drive around fine why am I getting stuck?
    I have a ‘18 Volvo automatic. 450k miles.

    Put your interaxle lock in.

If you have diff locks, engage those too.

Buy some kitty litter. Make a path and drive onto your chains. An experienced winter driver can spin his iron on without damage. Good luck.

Dont floor the pedal. Put it in a higher gear and let off the clutch. Engage interaxle lock.

I went out looking for sand litter and salt. Nowhere to find salt. Litter and sand didn’t help either. I tired to break the ice on most of the tires front and back with a rip claw but still.

Trailer brakes frozen, or trailer frozen to the ground?

Not frozen it’s like slippery and watery but I’m sure it will re freeze overnight.

You need some decent tires! Holy geeze!

Can't you throw the chains over top of the tire and roll onto them?

Ok? Still put it in high gear and let off the brake. Giving it fuel is only gonna spin it in low gear whether auto or manual.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
