I'm not sure I can do a roundhouse kick. In fact I'm really sure I can't.

how about a flick where a driver discovers a terriost plot while haulinga load cross country wher eas he finds a box of missles in his load and goes on a cross country trek to stop them b4 it too late. bad guys weapons action on the road, other drivers teaming up to help, big fight scene at the end. Well in my opinion you have 2 different types of drivers out there. You have those professional drivers, Then you have Truckers. Both will give you 2 different stories. Search the truck stops, its really not hard to tell the difference. I have to laugh everytime I hear the term "Professional Driver" seems how all you have to do is put in a few weeks at a school somewhere and you come out a professional. A professional driver will tell you that they will deliver their load if they have a perfect truck to do it in, and of course they cant run over their hours. Certainly not the kind of driver songs are written about. But a Trucker, well he's just the opposite. So I guess you have to ask yourself, what kind of a driver would you want to write about? And, What kind of a driver would people be most interested in? You mentioned you wanted something truer to life than the films from the 70's, but fact is, they wasnt far from it. Their is still some Truckers out there, and if you talk to 1 you will be taken back, but as the years pass their are becoming fewer and fewer.

WillieBoy, the the ten-gallon hat, pieplate belt buckle, chain drive wallet, etc., is a costume, most truck stops keep one in the back. Three times a day, at the drivers meeting in the lounge, we get together and vote for one of the drivers to put on the costume and go out front to keep up the illussion with the general public that we are all crazy. That way they leave us alone.

    Great post.

Trucking schools and recruiters call you a professional driver. US Dept of Labor classifies you as unskilled labor. Who are you going to believe? None of the above. Tell that recruiter not to blow sunshine up your arse, and tell the dept of labor that if they can stand perfectly still, you can back your 102 wide trailer into theirs without touching the cheeks.:biggrin_2551:

Anyways, want some good material for a trucking movie? Go to your local truckstop diner, belly up to the bar and listen for the war stories.

    Happy motoring.
