Did you miss the fact that he HAD A Class A CDL and was driving a commercial vehicle at the time of this horrible crash? No matter what your logic seems to tell you, he was a "trucker" and he killed seven innocent people. IMHO, he now deserve to rot in jail for the rest of his life.

The background on that driver is simply hard to believe...

    NOPE, sorry.

He rolled a truck, got arrested for OUI/DUI, should have had his license but for the negligence of the Massachusetts DMV.

He was kicked out of the club, way before this happened. Anyone calling this guy a trucker is insulting the rest of us.

    (Even the Swiftys!)

I hear what your saying, but the fact remains that he still had a CDL and was considered a truck driver required to follow the FMCSA regulations. In case you don't know, we have a lot of outlaw truck drivers out driving the roads every day... but they don't all kill innocent folks like this idiot did.

I'll just quote the great western philosopher, Prince William of Bel Aire

"You know I don't have a license but I drive very well officer."

That is the real tragedy is here. And I know I am going to injure the feelings of drivers out there with their own numbers. The current minimum liability requirement in $750,000. The same as it was in 1982 when the industry was deregulated. Adjusted for inflation that number should be at least $3 million. But OOIDA screams holy heck every time anyone floats the idea of increasing the liability minimums. And everyone I know who has their own numbers would go out of business, they can barely afford the premiums now.
But world wants "free shipping". This is what they get in return.
