I say 250 from WV to VA is something you should do once... just not in a truck. Ran it 2 weeks ago from Elkins WV to Charlottesville VA. I was reminded what a "squiggly" line on the map was in real life... one section where a skateboard was coming downhill, me and a sea-can stop to let him go through.
I saw a few signs for "logging truck turn here". By that it really meant, lock your axles, chain up, and have ground clearance. You're going places where jeep nation got stuck.Heritage11 Thanks this. -
In PA.... Basically any time you get off the interstate. Lancaster County, State College.... roads aren't bad just narrow and twisty with traffic.
Highway Sailor and Big_D409 Thank this. -

Stop by your nearby friendly convenient truck stop and purchase the Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas. Highlighted on every state are the routes approved to 53' 102" wide trailers and doubles. Stay on those routes and you will minimize your anxiety. Call the shipper or consignee for directions when you leave those routes until your experience level gets to the point you can figure out what is truck friendly or not.
Good Luck.Highway Sailor, JRTBud877, Big_D409 and 2 others Thank this. -
I will be travelling ti Milford CT tomorrow during the day from Buffalo border. Would like to know the best truck route since this is my first time and maybe my last.

I took 250 from Cadiz to Wheeling once. I was 80k with a 53' van. I'll never do that again.
poppapump1332 and JPenn Thank this. -
Two ways to go from buffalo Ny to Milford Ct. First and best ride is ny thruway 90, take that all the way to Springfield Massachusetts to I-91 south, run that down into where 95-91 come together Milford Ct.
This is the smoothest and best ride, it will cost you toll money on the ny thruway, mass pike is only a couple bucks.
Second way is to work your way down to Rt 17 in Ny and run that all the way to I-84 then run 84 east into Ct to rt 8 in Waterbury, or continue to 691-to 91 south into Milford Ct. This route is cheaper, but will still cost some tolls for Newburgh bridge. Good luck, both routes are good rides I'm sure you will enjoy the trip and make money. -
